World renowned for his pizza, Tony Gemignani sought to bring the signature ingredient of many of his popular dishes, pasta, to the San Francisco North Beach neighborhood where his restaurant empire started. Giovanni Italian Specialties, named for the owner’s son, is a flashback to a 1950’s general store as well as the owner’s family’s past in the provisions business. Giovanni’s has been designed to round out a community already rich in food offerings including Italian staples both domestic and imported. We specialize in homemade focaccia, piadina sandwiches, panzerotti (fried calzones), pizzelle cookies and of course fresh pasta and ravioli’s. We offer a selection of fine Italian and California wines, liqueurs, and craft beers. Sip on a Cappuccino or espresso in our outdoor seating with views of Washington Square Park & Saints Peter & Paul Church. We proudly use Graffeo roasted coffee beans in our imported Italian Espresso machine. They have been roasting coffee beans in North Beach since 1935. Additionally, we also offer professional pizza tools, bake ware, and the owner’s cookbooks so you can recreate his award winning recipes at home and other local cookbooks as well.  We look forward to meeting and serving you!
